It was by happy chance that I discovered kobido, a Japanese massage with unsuspected virtues.

My living environment, between the azure of the Mediterranean, ancient olive trees and the song of cicadas, was my first source of inspiration to embrace kobido.

Here, harmony, balance and energy unite to guide my practice, making each session a moment of reconnection with oneself, in perfect symbiosis with nature and the ancestral art of Japanese massage.
With this goal in mind, I earned my certification as a ‘Kobido Practitioner’, trained in Paris by Master Takumi Finch, a disciple of Master Shogo Mochizuki.

My approach, marked by a quest for balance transforms each session into a unique experience, where every movement becomes an invitation to euphoria and fulfillment (ευφορία).

Embark on a sensory journey where kobido reveals its treasures:

FAQ

What is kobido facial massage?

Kobido is an ancestral Japanese facial massage made up of 48 precise manual techniques performed in a continuous, uninterrupted sequence. It stimulates the skin's natural collagen production, delivers a natural lift and deep relaxation, with no needles or cosmetic products, only pure organic oil and a gesture passed down with precision across generations.

How is kobido different from a classic facial?

A classic facial mostly works on the surface (cleansing, hydration). Kobido works deeper, alternating fast and slow, deep and light movements that stimulate the tissue, boost circulation, and release muscular tension in the face, producing a firming effect a classic facial doesn't achieve.

Can kobido really replace a surgical facelift or injections?

Kobido isn't meant to imitate aesthetic medicine: it's a natural, complementary approach. It doesn't freeze muscles or fill volume the way injections do, but it firms the features and stimulates natural collagen through hand technique alone, with no invasive intervention. Many clients choose it specifically to avoid surgery or needles.

Is kobido massage painful?

No. Kobido alternates firm pressure with lighter, airy movements; certain areas (jaw, tension points) can feel intense in the moment, but the overall sensation is one of deep letting go, almost a floating feeling, never pain.

What is the "Ki" people mention in relation to kobido?

Ki refers to vital energy in Japanese tradition. The kobido protocol doesn't only work the muscles and skin: the gestures are also designed to move this energy, which is why the treatment has a calming effect on the mind that goes beyond the visible result on the face.

How long is a session, and how often should I come?

A session lasts 50 to 60 minutes. The recommended rhythm is once a week for the first month, then once a month to maintain results over time. It's not a one-off treatment but a ritual meant to be built into a routine.

How much does a kobido session cost?

A single session is 95€. Packages are available for ongoing treatment plans: a 10-session pack at 790€, or a 20-session course at 1.400€.

Why choose a package or course rather than a single session?

The effects of kobido (radiance, firmness) typically last between 3 and 15 days after one session. Consistency is what builds lasting results on collagen and facial tone, which is why the package and course formats exist, for results that hold over time rather than a one-off effect.

How long before I see results?

Some effects are visible immediately after the first session (radiance, a rested look). Deeper results on firmness and skin texture build progressively, with a clear difference typically noticeable between day 7 and day 30 of regular sessions.

Is kobido suitable for all ages?

Yes, the protocol adapts to age and individual needs: in your 30s, the focus is often preventive (radiance, addressing the first signs of aging); in your 40s and 50s, the emphasis shifts to firming and collagen stimulation. A conversation at the start of the session helps tailor the technique.

Are there any contraindications for kobido?

Kobido is generally not recommended in cases of active skin inflammation, recent facial surgery, or certain specific medical conditions. A quick conversation before your first session helps confirm the treatment is right for you

How can I recognize a qualified kobido practitioner?

A qualified practitioner has completed certified training in the 48-gesture Japanese protocol, can explain the logic behind the technique and session rhythm, and uses pure oil with no added cosmetic products. The precision of the gesture is what sets a genuine kobido treatment apart from a generic facial massage.

Does kobido also help with stress and tension?

Yes: it's one of the benefits clients mention most often. Facial tension (jaw, forehead) is frequently linked to broader stress; by releasing it, kobido has a calming effect that extends beyond the session itself, with clients reporting better sleep and reduced anxiety.

Is kobido actually useful, or is it a frivolous indulgence?

Taking care of your face isn't a superficial act: it's a moment of reconnection with yourself that has a real, documented effect on mood and confidence. Kobido follows a holistic approach where physical and mental wellbeing are linked, rather than being purely about appearance.

Can I do a kobido course before a wedding or a special event?

Absolutely: this is one of the most requested uses. The ideal approach is to plan a short course of several sessions in the weeks leading up to the event, for a cumulative effect visible on the day itself rather than a single last-minute session.

Does Christine see tourists visiting Crete?

Yes, Christine welcomes both local residents of Crete and tourists or expats passing through, including as part of a short stay or "wedding tourism." The protocol can be adapted even for a single session if a full course isn't possible within your schedule.

Where do the sessions take place?

Sessions take place in Rethymnon, Crete, in a natural setting conducive to letting go, near olive trees and the Mediterranean, designed to extend the calming effect of the treatment itself.

How do I book a session with Christine?
